Competition

On February 25, 2023, teams competed to provide solutions for Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction & Patient Lifestyle X Digital Health.

This years event was held in person at Curry Ballroom, Northeastern University. â€‹
​
The Spring 2023 competition was sponsored by Johnson&Johnson, Massachusetts eHealth Institute, AARP Innovation Labs, PAVmed, Health Sciences Entrepreneurs, Northeastern Bouvé College of Health Sciences, Northeastern's Khoury College of Computer Science, and Northeastern's College of Engineering.

GutWise is an app created to help students affected by GI issues. This community-oriented app offers personalized recommendations, resources, and networking opportunities to improve students' overall health and well-being. The app features three tabs: one for dining halls, one for personal cooking/grocery, and one for community engagement, ensuring that all users have access to the resources they need, regardless of their dining situation.

RevBand is a sweat sensor-based smartwatch band that tracks biometric data and connects to an app that provides insights into physical and emotional wellness.

Dr. Mythili Pathipati

Dr. Pathipati received her BA from Harvard University and her MD from the Stanford University School of Medicine. She is an accomplished gastroenterology fellow and an advanced fellow in Neurogastroenterology and Motility at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her current research focuses on the use of digital health technologies to improve the care of patients with functional GI disease.

During her residency, Dr. Pathipati co-founded the MGH Housestaff Innovation Studio, an initiative that provides resources and mentorship to young physicians who are developing new ideas. She has also consulted for several healthcare start-ups, including Ayble, VoxHealth, and DigiSight. Additionally, Dr. Pathipati is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association’s Committee on GI Innovation and Technology, where she supports physician innovators and industry partners in developing solutions targeting gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition, and obesity.
